"A Night of Philosophy and Ideas is a thinker’s lollapalooza. The free, 12-hour weekend lyceum at the Brooklyn Public Library includes spirited debate, live music, theater, performance art pieces, and film screenings. At any given hour, five or six different events will be taking place simultaneously. Visitors are encouraged to come and go as the spirit moves them.

Dawn Jones Redstone’s short film about reproductive justice features women of color leading the resistance. The year is 2023. Health care of any kind is highly inaccessible and in some cases outlawed. Public utilities such as water are privatized and severely restricted. Streets are filled with protesters clutching signs that say “Water is a human right” and chanting “Whose streets? Our streets.”

Ronald Haeberle took a color photograph of the bloody corpses of men, women, and children after the Mai Lai Massacre during the Vietnam War in in March 1968, initially publishing it in Life magazine. Later the image was used by the Art Worker's Coalition to create the infamous poster, "And babies.," which superimposed "Q: And babies? A: And babies" in red letter across the top and bottom of the image.

In 2011, nine local artists staged a performance called “Let’s Add 1 Meter to Taipa Pequena (Sio Tam Hill)” in Macau, protesting against the controversial attempted rezoning of the mountain for high-rise construction by the developers. They lied on top of each other with their naked bodies, forming a one-meter-high pile of human nudity on the Taipa Pequena.

The news was shared by his son, Kwame Brathwaite, Jr., in an Instagram post. “I am deeply saddened to share that my Baba, the patriarch of our family, our rock and my hero has transitioned,” Brathwaite, Jr. wrote. “Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time.”
